- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 cups milk
- cheese (optional)
In medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Blend in milk. Cook, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
If desired, add 1 or a combination of the following cheeses.
- 1 1/2 cups shredded American cheese
- 1 1/1 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterrey jack cheese
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
