4 Layer Dip

  • 2 – 15 or 16 oz cans refried beans
  • 1 – 4oz can chopped green chilies, undrained
  • 1 – 16oz container sour cream
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 3 ripe avocados, pitted and peeled
  • 2 Tbsp lime juice (concentrate) – lemon juice can be substituted
  • 1/2 tsp Mrs. Dash
  • 1/8 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • sliced green onion
  • 1 small can sliced black olives
  • cilantro, fresh & chopped (about 1 bunch)
  • Shredded cheddar, monterey jack cheeses

In small bowl, combine refried beans and chilies; spread on large serving plate.  Combine sour cream and taco seasoning; spoon over bean mixture, spreading evenly.  In small bowl, mash avocados; stir in lime juice and salts, and seasonings; spoon evenly over sour cream mixture.  Cover; chill several hours.  Just before serving, garnish with cheese, tomatoes, green onions, olives and cilantro.  Serve with tortilla chips.
